St. James in the Upper Palatinate - by Prague to Nuremberg

Jakobswegtrasse Tillyschanz, from the German-Czech border on the local impact of Eslarn, Fuchsberg, Willhof, Schwandorf to Ensdorf and is about 89 kilometers long. Marked

Tillyschanz is a small hamlet in the town of Eslarn. On a table we can read that there are about 175 miles to Nuremberg and to Santiago about 2,600 km. As a first stage point is reached after 4.8 km take the place Eslarn. The Church of the Ascension in the interior has a beautiful large vine-Akanthusaltar and the Upper Palatinate altar builder Johann Michael Doser (1678 - 1756) attributed. Besides the church there is a new milestone on which is 2595 km to Santiago.

Ensdorf lies in the valley of the Vils, the area was inhabited some 20,000 years ago . In the center of the village is a monastery, founded by the Benedictines 1121st 1507 burned down the monastery until the 18th Century, the Benedictines built here a new abbey. The church is dedicated to St. James and the Middle Ages often attracted by the pilgrims Ensdorf.
